Hometown Hero, United States Air Force Captain Shannon Revit, addresses the audience at our 4th of July 2018ceremony. Capt Revit joined the Navel Reserves in 2001, attending the Navel boot camp in Great Lakes Il. graduating at the top of her class as Recruit Chief Petty Officer. Earning her degree in nursing, Capt Revit became a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve in April 2008. Due the the Army cutting its staff, then 1st Lt Revit moved over to the 166th Medical Group with the Delaware Air National Guard.
Capt Revit deployed to Ethiopia in October 2015 as the Director of Medical Services as a nurse practitioner where she successfully evacuated critically ill patients, one time using her Navel skills as a plane captain to wave in a C-130 under cover of darkness using nothing but a glo stick and a tiny flashlight.
Capt Revit, in April, was selected to the rank of Major and will be commissioned as Major this coming fall. Her husband, LTC Mike Revit, is currently deployed in Qutar, where he is commanding an Expeditionary Civil engineering unit.
Captain Revit also serves as the Post Surgeon for VFW Post 3258, making house calls on our members and assisting in any way she can.
