Comrade in Need
I know that I’ve sent quite a few emails this past week but this one is the most important. As many of you know, we are assisting a comrade in distress that has a home that is in desperate need of a roof repair. I am pleased to announce that we’ve coordinated with both a roofing supplier and installer to get the roof in place starting November 16th. This is a critically important project and I am asking for able volunteers to donate a few hours to this great cause.
We are looking for anyone to participate at their own skill level. We will need people for the following types of work:
- Roof Removal – These people will be on the roof handling tools and removing shingles from the old roof.
- Ground Labor – These people will be picking up shingles and other light materials and placing them in the onsite dumpster. This is very easy and very light work.
- Support Personnel – These people would be bringing any needed material to the people on the roof. (Materials and Tools)
The event will begin at 0730 Hours on Saturday November 16th and we expect that it would last until about 2:00 PM that day. You do not need to stay for the entire event. I ask that you consider a 2-hour block of time for volunteering. Lunch will be provided as well as Coffee and Donuts at the beginning of the event.
The address of this event will be: 616 East Pine Street, Feasterville, PA 19053. (Comfortable work clothes recommended)
I will be sending out a request for help to all of the posts within our District as well. We need about 30 people to make this a successful event. We also expect that several members of the press will be there as well. I have also invited the local dignitaries to this event to help with the labor and participate in the project.
Comrades, there is no higher honor than to serve others…..especially veterans. This project is at the core of what we do and who we are as an organization. It fulfills our primary mission! We don’t do enough of this type of work and when we get an opportunity to serve in this capacity it is indeed an exciting experience. I ask you Comrades, that you consider helping at this event.
I will be your point of contact so if you can assist in nay way on this day please contact me at (267) 644-7942 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for all that you do for veterans and for the great work you do for our post!
Please reach out to me with any questions and/or concerns.
Yours in Service,
John August Otte
