“The John Radko Award” was adopted by the VFW for presentation to an individual Police officer for outstanding service in the field of Law Enforcement. As first responders, Police Officers risk their lives every day to protect our world and make it a better place. They are never 'off duty. These dedicated public servants are sworn to protect public safety at any time and place that the peace is threatened.
This award was adopted by the VFW for presentation to an individual fire fighter recognized by his colleagues for outstanding and dedicated service, with an unswerving loyalty to, and performance in, the defenses, safety and security of our communities. Our Fire fighters are willing to risk their lives every day with each call to protect our lives, property and to keep us safe. Try to imagine life without their services.
This award was adopted by the VFW for presentation to an individual EMT recognized by their colleagues for outstanding and dedicated service to saving lives as a health care provider of emergency medical services. These are clinicians trained to respond quickly to emergency situations regarding medical issues, traumatic injuries and accident scenes.
The VFW annually recognizes the nation’s top classroom elementary, junior high and high school teachers who teach citizenship education topics regularly and promote America’s history and traditions effectively. Teachers who promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism are prime candidates for this award.
